​Sewer Do's and Don'ts

NEVER POUR GREASE DOWN SINK DRAINS OR INTO TOILETS.
  • Pour it in a metal can and put it in the trash instead!
  • Scrape food scraps and grease into the trash can.
  • Put strainers in sink drains to catch food scraps and other solids.
  • Garbage disposals do not keep grease out of the plumbing system.
  • Baby wipes and other flushable wipes DO NOT BREAK DOWN and can cause even more damage.
BLOCKED PIPES CAN:
  • CAUSE RAW SEWAGE TO BACK UP, which can cause serious health hazards which are expensive and very unpleasant to clean up.
  • Create an overflow of raw sewage into yards, streets, and lakes!
  • Pollute ground water
  • Increase costs for wastewater utilities, CAUSING HIGHER SEWER BILLS.
